Project Description
Play and Decipher: Searching the Cultural and Educational Potentialities of Games
Under European Union’s Youth in Action Program, which aims to provide intercultural exchange of information and dialogue between young people; “Play and Decipher: Searching the Cultural and Educational Potentialities of Games” project was carried out with partnership of France, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Turkey and the Turkey leg of the project was conducted by Active Living Association. The project was implemented in order to provide knowledge and experience sharing by bringing together students, experts and representatives who are working or studying in the field of children.
The first phase of the project, which lasted for 2 years, took place between 2-9 March 2013 and a seminar was held in France with a group of participants from partner countries. The seminars continued to be held in other participating countries at 6-month intervals. Through interactive seminars, the participants examined the relationship between the cultures they were born in and the opportunity to get to know the traditional games in different cultures. Participants also explored how games are shaped by cultures and the opportunities and barriers of the games in different cultures and they found a chance to see the current situation of partner countries about child’s right to play.
